iMessages is a great way to receive and send messages in your Apple devices. The benefit of imessages over traditional SMS and MMS is that the iMessages send and receives data and media in encrypted form so your data is secured at sending and receiving end. You can synchronize your iPhone with your Mac to send and receive messages from there. But there are many issues arising when using the iMessages on Mac. Here we will discuss the problems of iMessages in Mac and its solutions.
Checking your iPhone Device
When you are facing iMessages problem on Mac while sending and receiving messages you need to check your iOS device. To check the setting in your iPhone you have to go to Messages> Setting> Send and Receive. You will see the phone number and email address against the Apple ID and it is the email address where you receive your messages on Mac. If you can’t see the email address then sign in with your Apple ID. In Start New Conversation From option make sure your mobile number is selected.
Checking your Mac
Now open Messages on Mac. Go to Preferences and under Accounts tab you can see the phone number and Apple ID with the email address. That Apple ID should be same which you have set on your iPhone device. The email address if is incorrect or missing add the Apple ID as you have on your iPhone device. Check the box Enable this Account and make sure that the Phone number is selected from the dropdown menu stated as Start New Conversation From in Preferences pane.
Turn off iMessages
A simple step to take when your iMessage is not working properly is just turn off your iMessages and turn in on again. In your iPhone open Settings >Messages> Turn off the iMessages toggle button. Wait for few seconds and turn it on again. Go to Similarly go to your Mac open Messages> Preferences> Accounts and uncheck Enable this Account and close it and open Messages again and enable it again. Now both devices will reconnect to each other. Both the device and Mac are synchronized again and it will resolve the issue.
