YouTube has a built-in editing tool called YouTube Video Editor. It is often overlooked by people but it provides the basic and very good video editing option from cropping your videos to setting background music, filtering the videos and adding music, inserting notes and much more.
Sign-in to YouTube
To use the video editing tool in YouTube you must need to sign in to YouTube. For signing in to the YouTube you need your Google account or your YouTube account. Then you can start editing the videos you have already uploaded to your account or from any other copyright free video from YouTube.
Open Video Editor
You can open video editor from your YouTube account. To go to the video editor tool type in the URL www.youtube.com/editor.
Or you can go to the My channel in YouTube. Then click on Video manager and choose Create option from left panel. Now you can click on Video Editor under Create option. You can choose New Project from Project tab on the top of the window, you can also delete or select already added projects.
Choose Video for Editing
The camera tab I video Editor shows all the uploaded videos. You can play the videos to see which video to select. Then drag the video to the work area written as ‘Drag Videos Here’. You can select multiple videos to create a story of your vacations by dragging them in the timeline. You can select cross button on the video thumbnail on timeline to delete the video from editing.
How to Trim the Video
The selected video on your timeline shows blue bar on both sides of the video. You can place the cursor on the middle of the bar and drag from the middle of blue bar to trim the video from starting or end.
Add Pictures to your Video
You can add pictures on the video by selecting the camera icon on the top of menu. The photos can be selected from your Google+ or your photo albums or uploaded photos. You can drag the picture on your timeline and drag from the bars of the photo to choose how long they should appear in your video.
Creative Common Videos
YouTube provides you with videos called Creative Common Videos which are copyright free and it gives you the license to use them in your videos. By clicking on cc you are shown the creative common videos which you can choose and drag them in your timeline.
Edit Video with Quick Fixes and Filter
The menu has Quick fixes tab it adjust the brightness and contrast of the video. It also has the option to run the video in slow motion, rotate the image, or pan and zoom the video. The Filter option allows you to different filters to your video which you can choose from given options.
Add Text and Audio
Text option in menu gives you the option to add text in your video. You can add any text, change the font size, colour, alignment, position of the text. Banner size and colour of can also be altered. Similarly you can also adjusted audio from Audio option in the menu.
Music tab shows a library of songs, you can find the songs of different genres and artist and also search audio tracks. To add music drag the music to the timeline which says ‘Drag Audio Here’. You can trim the audio similar way as did for the video clip i.e. pull from centre of blue bar at the sides of audio.
You can add transition to your videos just as you do in your power point slides. To add transition click on Bow-tie tab from menu and you can see different transition modes. Choose it for your video and drag it to your timeline between any two clips. You can adjust the duration of transition by pulling the left and right bar of the blue bar in transition mode.
Save and Publish Video
You video is saved as you go further, you can name your video by clicking on the text bar at the top written as ‘My edited video’ and rename it. In the top right corner there is a button which says ‘Create video’ by clicking on this your video is published.
